Pulling up Roots

Here is a brief narrative history of the Barg family from approximately 1802 – 1980. Many persons have contributed information for this narrative and we thank them for this. A special thank you goes to Ada and Philip Barg of Vanderhoof, B.C., who compiled the narrative. A further thanks to Debbie Szeplaky for typing from an original faded copy into this Word document.

Helena Barg, the wife of Franz Franz Hübert, was a sister to Bernhard Barg, whose story is portrayed here. As reviewed in this narrative, the Bargs came to Canada and started out in Duchess, Alberta, and just over a year later, in 1927, the Franz Hüberts also came to Canada, spending a year in Duchess with the Bernhard Bargs before settling in Coaldale, Alberta. The 1907 move of the Barg sisters to Siberia from the Molotschna is referenced early in this historical reconstruction.
